In Cape Town and throughout the Garden Route, we highly recommend staying in Guesthouses as these offer excellent bed and breakfast accommodation in often luxurious surroundings at very reasonable rates. Alternatively, stay in stylish hotels at the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town, experience a Game Lodge on safari or for something completely different stay at the purpose-built Sun City Resort. South Africa has it all.
Whilst in Cape Town, must sees are Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Gardens and the views from the summit of Table Mountain. For day trips, visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, the wine areas of Stellenbosch or Franschoek, and during the winter months, visit Walker Bay and Hermanus and witness the awesome sight of the southern right whales. Combining city and safari is an excellent idea too with various options including Shamwari Game Reserve near Port Elizabeth.
